Project Summary:
The i-opener was one of the earliest devices in a new product class known as internet appliances. With no hard drive or mouse, i-opener was deigned to be as easy-to-use as a toaster.  The keyboard included a thumb pad for cursor control, selection buttons and even had a Pizza Key that connected to your local Papa John's.

Key features:

  • Email
  • Web Guide
  • News
  • Sports
  • Weather
  • Entertainment
  • Shopping
  • Finance

Result:
The i-opener helped to connect  thousands of grand parents and other people to the internet for the first time. Netpliance eventually sold it's i-opener subscriber base to EarthLink.
